COVID-19 Study Abroad FAQ

What is the status of the Fall 2020 Study Abroad Programs?

CSB/SJU cancelled all Semester Fall programs as of April 8 (see the Provost's announcement here) as the U.S. Department of State issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory and the U.S Center for Disease Control released an Warning Level 3 Global Outbreak Notice due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19. The Center for Global Education will work with all students planning to study abroad Fall 2020 on how to move their application forward.

Can I study abroad Fall 2021?

Yes. All students planning to study abroad Fall 2020 will have the opportunity to choose to move your application from Fall 2020 to the same program in Fall 2021. You will not need to reapply, you will automatically be part of the Fall 2021 program.

Can I study abroad in Spring 2021?

In some cases, there will be an opportunity to run your specific program in Spring 2021 instead of Fall 2020. You may have the opportunity to study on your same study abroad program in Spring 2021. CGE will notify you as soon as we have information from our international partners if your specific program can operate in Spring 2021. We will get that information to you no later than May 15.

If my same program is not running in Spring 2021, can I move my application to a different Spring 2021 program?

After June 1, CGE will notify students if there are spaces available on Spring 2021 programs.

I cannot study abroad in Spring 2021 or Fall 2021. Will I be reimbursed?

Given the change in timing, you may decide that you no longer wish to study abroad. If you decide to withdraw from the program, CGE will refund your full application fee.
