October 10, 2025 • 4 min read

It is never too early to start planning for your study abroad experience. With advising and spring 2026 course registration right around the corner, now is the perfect time to consider how the upcoming program offerings might fit into your four-year plan. Be sure to ask your advisor about how you can study abroad while staying on track with your graduation requirements!

Semester Programs

Applications for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semester programs will open on November 1 and are due by noon on Tuesday, February 3. Most students will study abroad during their junior year, but this is not a requirement; sophomore and seniors can study abroad, too! We encourage you to read more about each program in the linked online brochures found on the CSB+SJU Global Portal:

Short-Term Programs

There are two opportunities to apply for upcoming short-term programs, and the first one has a rapidly approaching application deadline! Students hoping to study abroad on a short-term embedded program in spring 2026 need to submit their application by noon on Tuesday, October 21! The following programs are accepting applications for spring 2026:

The next opportunity to apply for future short-term programs will come on November 1, when students can apply for fall 2026 short-term embedded programs. The application deadline for these programs is Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at noon. Students should make a plan with their advisor to make sure they meet the prerequisites (if any) of these programs:

Study Abroad Alum Highlight

Senior Strategic Communication Studies major and Gender Studies minor, Marisa LaPlante, studied abroad on a short-term program in spring 2025. Marisa shares, “During my time at CSB+SJU, I was always afraid of going abroad. Going to a different country for a long period of time was something I was very unsure of, but I knew that since I am never going to have an opportunity like this again, I should try and take advantage of it while I can because CSB+SJU has so many opportunities available for studying abroad.”

A woman with long dark hair, wearing a red top, stands smiling on a high balcony with a metal safety fence. The cityscape of Munich and the twin towers of Frauenkirche are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Marisa studied in Germany on the Marketing and Sport Sponsorship program, and she continues, “It helped me learn so much about myself and encouraged me to want to try new things. Before studying abroad in Germany, I had never been to Europe and didn’t travel much to begin with, so I was unsure of how the experience would go. During our time in Germany, we had a variety of site visits including a tour of SAP Garden, Olympia Park, and more! We also had a variety of business meetings including with brands such as Puma, Adidas, Red Bull, FC Bayern Munich, and Reachbird Marketing Agency. Throughout this class, we constructed a project with a sports team of our choice and a sponsorship proposal for that team. It taught me to explore the world more and become more independent. Take advantage of the opportunities you have while at CSB+SJU to study abroad. Studying abroad has brought me so much out of my comfort zone and made me want to try new things and travel more.”
