Luminarias is based out of the Minneapolis area. “Luminarias is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping adolescent Guatemalan girls break the cycle of poverty through housing, education, youth development and community outreach. We empower girls to re-imagine their futures and become the women they aspire to be.” Our team’s connection with this project is through Andrew Mueller, a St. John’s alum, who currently works at Target Corporate in Minneapolis. When Andrew was a Johnnie, he founded Square One and served as the Enactus President when he was a senior. He now sits on the board for Luminarias and reached out to our Enactus team in hopes of our partnership with them. Luminarias is still in its relatively early stages, but our Enactus team would likely work in areas like research, marketing, and outreach, with the possibility of the opportunity for members to travel to Guatemala to help with the implementation of the project.
