Saint John's had a strong year in fundraising for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016, raising $21.8 million in gifts and pledges, which includes $19.9 for the University and $1.8 for the Abbey. This is the sixth time during our capital campaign that we have raised more than $20 million. Since the beginning of the capital campaign Forward Ever Forward, Saint John's has raised approximately $165 million.

This past year, Saint John's achieved notable results with our Annual Fund campaigns, raising nearly $4 million in unrestricted annual gifts. This included $2,781,070 for the College of Arts & Sciences Student Fund, as well as record years for the School of Theology and Seminary ($366,070) and the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library ($327,997). Saint John's Abbey raised its highest total ever in unrestricted annual support ($518,147).

In addition to unrestricted Annual Fund gifts, Saint John's University raised $4.4 million in restricted annual gifts and the Abbey raised $255,512. This brings the total restricted and unrestricted annual giving to $8.6 million for Saint John's University and Abbey.

The Saint John's University investment portfolio had a negative return of 1.6%, net of fees, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. By comparison, reports of early investment returns from America's top 25 highly selective, private liberal arts colleges and universities indicate that their endowments declined in value by four percent in FY16. Saint John's investment returns continue to outperform our peer colleges and universities.

As of June 30, 2016, the fund balance for Saint John's University endowment stands at $159,303,656.
