Three Victorian women explorers start out on a peregrination to discover the unknown. As they travel through time they encounter a cannibal, the Yeti, Grover, Mr. Coffee and other characters all played by the same male actor. In this production, props magically appear, rivers and icebergs transform, and clinging jungle vines seem to spontaneously move, yet Mary, Fanny and Alexandra assume all is normal in this world on the verge. In addition, the audience sees three other women who act as forces of Time, or, are they Mr. Coffee’s minions?
A non-realistic play, it deals with the nature of reality and illusion, concepts of time, the relationship between cause and effect and the varied natures of the Female Person. The playwright greatly enjoys the English language and sprinkles his script with words like ”cacophonous” and “apotheosis”, words which are not only sensual but are lovely to say.
