Developing the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct quality research in exercise science are prominent components of the Exercise Science and Sport Studies curriculum. Through courses, such as Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology, students develop a wide variety of laboratory skills and actively engage in the scientific method. Students also learn how to read disciplinary journals and communicate research findings clearly and concisely. The Research Methods and Research Seminar courses then allow students the opportunity to develop their own research proposal and, once approved by the CSB/SJU Institutional Review Board, conduct an undergraduate research project.
