Environmental Studies and Economics double major
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Canoeing.
Why did you decide to major in Environmental Studies?
I majored in Environmental Studies because I wanted to learn more about the interactions of living things (including people) and the rest of the natural world.
What environmental issue are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about the recognizing the importance of ecological interactions on Ecosystem health, and also the impact of climatic change on these ecological interactions.
What is your favorite Environmental Studies class and why?
My favorite Environmental Studies classes have been "The Science of Climate Changes," and "Gender and the Environment." I loved "The Science of Climate Changes," because it gave me the confidence to speak about climate change with family and friends. I loved Gender and the Environment because it changed my perspective more than any other class at CSBSJU.
What was the focus of your research for ENVR 320? What were your findings?
For my research in ENVR320, I am focusing on agroforestry and the benefits and barriers to converting different types of land to agroforestry.
What advice do you have for first year students and majors?
Do summer research if you can! Also, if you find a reading or topic in class interesting, learn more on your own or ask your professor to provide you with resources.
