Megan VanOverbeke ’24
Where do you call home?
Albany, Minnesota
Why did you decide to major in the English Department?
I love to read and write! Words are a work of art on their own, and it brings me joy to experience the stories and images they can create. I would love my future job to incorporate English somehow.
What has been your favorite English Department class? Why?
I am currently taking Shocking Discoveries with Cindy Malone, and I love the works we have been reading. It allows me to think about them in ways I never would be able to on my own, and the dynamic of our class makes me excited every time I go.
What are you looking forward to as a student in the English Department?
I am looking forward to seeing myself improve as both a writer and a reader with help from professors and my classes.
What advice do you have for other English students?
Your voice is important in your writing. Never lose your own sense of style.
