The small class sizes at CSB/SJU are conducive to close interaction between faculty and students, even in introductory-level classes. The flexibility of the programs and the availability of career counselors mean that students can easily adjust their programs to match changes in focus or direction. Faculty and students have worked together in recent years on such projects as environmental radioactivity, computer voice recognition, high-temperature superconductors, the electronic structure of metals, the Quantum Hall Effect, chaotic phenomena in lasers, and theoretical studies in astrophysics.
