
Social Studies Education
Students interested in teaching grades 5-12 history, government, economics, geography, psychology, and sociology should pursue a Social Science major and Secondary Education minor.
This licensure program combines coursework in educational foundations and social studies pedagogy with content-focused classes in history and the social sciences. It includes field experiences in middle and high school social studies classrooms, culminating in a 16-week student teaching experience.

Seeking Licensure
In addition to completing all required coursework and field experiences, the Professional Educator Standards and Licensing Board requires all students seeking Social Studies licensure in Minnesota to successfully complete the Candidate Preservice Assessment of Student Teaching (CPAST).
