Mathematics Education

Our Math Education Program is dedicated to cultivating future educators who are not only skilled in mathematical content but also capable of fostering critical thinking and reasoning in their students. We emphasize the development of mathematical thinkers, encouraging students to approach problems with curiosity and logic. With a strong focus on building mathematical reasoning, our program prepares teachers to guide their students in making meaningful connections to math concepts. Future educators will receive comprehensive support to align their teaching with current content standards while exploring a diverse range of effective instructional methods that engage modern learners. We are committed to ensuring that math instruction is relevant, inclusive, and accessible to all students. Above all, our program fosters a supportive and collaborative community, empowering future teachers to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Math Education Program is a combination of a Math major and Secondary Education minor. It prepares candidates for becoming 5-12 math teachers and attaining a 5-12 Mathematics license. This program includes both foundational coursework as well as a student teaching experience.
