Economics

How did the major prepare you for your career?

Anthonique

In my department, they only hire people with a degree in economics or finance. All of what I do speaks to the basic principles of economics, and all that I learned while obtaining my major allows me to perform my duties well. These would include performing short economics analyses, using calculus, effective use of economic charts and tables, and economic research.

Deangela

Having knowledge of economics helped me transition into my work much more easily. I could relate and engage in conversations with my colleagues from the beginning.

What advice do you have for students considering a major in economics?

Anthonique

If you are willing to put in the time and effort you will find that it is an extremely rewarding major that shapes your way of thinking about EVERYTHING, even about every day activities like purchasing groceries. The possibilities are endless with a major in economics.

What did you find most valuable at CSB/SJU?

Deangela

The exposure to different cultures and the friendships formed with other students and staff. Additionally, I can appreciate the welcoming culture that the school embodies.
