The "Cut the Current" energy challenge is an annual competition between residence halls on the CSB campus to see who can reduce their energy usage the most. Data is tracked for three weeks, and the residence hall that reduces their energy usage the most wins a prize day! With energy reduction as much as 17% per residence hall, this is another way CSB works to be sustainable.
Congratulations to the residents of Aurora! They reduced their energy usage by 17.8% and were rewarded with a pizza party! Altogether, CSB reduced energy expenditure in the residences by 6.1%. That is equal to 3.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide, or 4486 kilo-watt hours!
Congratulations to the residents of Lottie Hall! They reduced their energy usage by 33.3% and was rewarded with a winners only soiree! Collectively, CSB's energy savings netted over $800 savings and avoided nearly 16,000 lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions (equivalent to 7,777 lbs. of coal). NICE WORK.
