Dear Spring Semester 2022 Study Abroad Students, Parents, and Guardians,
The Center for Global Education (CGE) continues to follow COVID-19 updates from the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Zurich Insurance/Crisis24 intelligence reports, and host country governmental health ministries. We have also been in direct contact with our international education partners in Cork, Dublin, London, and Seville. The message we heard back from all these sites is that study abroad programming continues to move forward, and they are excited to welcome you into their communities this coming spring semester. CGE continues to have confidence in the ability of our international education partners to support student health and well-being as well as academic programming.
Indeed, these study abroad sites were chosen for their robust COVID-19 protocols, on-site 24/7 emergency support, housing arrangements, and academic resources. (More details on these protocols can be found on our COVID-19 webpage). We thank you for your ability to be flexible with program changes that may occur in the future in response to any public health measures at your program location. Your CGE Program Managers have recently sent you specific information about preparing for entry into London and Ireland. Specific guidance for Spain will be shared in early January. Students, please be sure to read all communications from our office and our partners carefully. Also, we strongly encourage students who now qualify for COVID-19 booster shots to consider this option as we do not know if booster shots will be available abroad.
Please note that CSB/SJU offices will be closed from December 23rd – January 2rd for the upcoming holidays. I will continue to monitor this e-mail account should you have questions. If you have an emergency and require immediate assistance, please call CSB Security (320-363-5000) or SJU Life Safety (320-363-2144) and they will connect you to a member of our team.
CGE wishes you and your family a Happy Holiday!
Kevin Clancy, Ph.D.
