October 14: Update to Classroom Masking Policy

Dear CSB/SJU Students, Faculty and Staff:

I would like to update you on CSB/SJU’s classroom masking policy.

It has been just under two weeks since the campus-wide masking policy was changed. The Minnesota Department of Health is urging caution when rolling back mitigation measures and recommends at least two weeks are taken in between making changes. This allows institutions time to determine whether campus transmission is increasing, decreasing or remaining steady.

Therefore, masks will continue to be required for all individuals in classrooms, through Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Pandemic Planning Committee will continue to monitor transmission on campus and meet weekly to discuss changing conditions.

After Oct. 30, masking will be optional for all students, faculty, and staff. Faculty and staff are free to require masks in classrooms and offices as they choose. We believe this is the best way for people to have control over their individual environment and protect students and one another while allowing for a robust campus experience.

Please visit our COVID-19 website for a dashboard, list of FAQ’s and contact information for staff who can assist you.

Gratefully,

Casey Gordon

Chair, CSB/SJU Pandemic Planning Committee
