August 14: A Message from CSB Interim President Hamen

Dear Bennies:

As the new Interim President at Saint Ben’s, I am enthused to welcome you to campus in a few short weeks! We miss you, and we are so ready to have you back on campus.

At CSB, the Benedictine Value of community living is central to who we are. Being together and learning together in community is at the heart of the CSB/SJU identity. We know returning to campus is what our community desires and how Bennies best learn, grow and find support.

We’ve worked all summer to make our campus safe and your experience excellent, amid a global pandemic. We have plans in place for safe and engaging academic and student life experiences this year. You’ll find the most up-to-date information on our plans at www.csbsju.edu/covid-19.

Community living requires all of us to act in ways unique to our time, to ensure the health and safety of others. Wearing a mask, social distancing, self-monitoring for symptoms daily and practicing good hygiene: these are acts of community care and community living. Thank you for doing these things to protect one another.

Though the fall may look a little different than usual, we are confident that students will have a high quality educational and social experience. I am delighted to join you in the joyful, demanding, and blessed work of building a safe and heathy community of learning.

Community always,

Laurie Hamen

Interim President
