March 24 Message about Spring Study Abroad
Dear Spring Study Abroad Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Returning home after a study abroad program can be challenging in the best of times. We often refer to the “culture shock” students experience as they transition from their time abroad to their time back at home. However, we know you have experienced immense challenges this spring with the early suspension of study abroad programs and returning home to a landscape changed by the coronavirus. All spring study abroad program students have returned safely from their global program sites.
Health & Well-Being
First and foremost, we encourage you to prioritize your personal health and well-being. Please know that CSB/SJU Counseling services are available to you online and via telephone. In addition to your primary care, the CSB Health Center is open for in-person and virtual appointments for CSB students. Please call ahead to schedule at 320-363-5605, or log into the Health Services Patient Portal to complete a virtual appointment. SJU students should utilize the CentraCare Clinics in Albany and St. Joseph. Call 320-200-3200 to connect with nurses who can offer advice, provide care options and schedule appointments. We also encourage you to follow the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s self-monitoring advice for returning travelers.
CSB/SJU Academic Dean Barb May recently sent out a document with advice for remote learning. We have re-attached it here for your reference. Your Center for Global Education (CGE) program managers and program faculty have been in touch (or will be in touch) with you to discuss the remote learning approach for each of your program sites. The course delivery will differ based on the program location and academic calendar of your program, but please know that all of you will be able to complete your spring course work and receive your credits through remote learning.
CGE is processing your flight reimbursements related to change tickets fees/new tickets required to return home. You will be receiving these reimbursements in the form of a check sent to your home address. (If your home address has changed since January 2019, please notify us at [email protected]).
At the moment, our CGE team is also operating remotely, but we continue to monitor e-mails and phone calls. For further questions, please contact us at [email protected] and we will be sure to respond to your inquiry.
