March 23: CRRSA - Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II)

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University will receive funding for student grants through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II), authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020.

The institutions are following federal guidance to distribute funding to students:  The CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, in awarding financial aid grants to students.

Therefore, grants will be distributed on a sliding scale to FAFSA filers with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of less than 50,000 as follows:

FAFSA EFC                Estimated HEERF II Grant

0 - 5,710                  CSB:  $1,100      SJU:  $1,025

5,711 - 15,700        CSB:   $770        SJU: $714

15,701 - 30,000      CSB:   $550       SJU:  $508

30,001 - 50,000      CSB:   $350       SJU:  $350

The total funds received by CSB is $786,276 and by SJU is $678,568.

Student recipients have recently been notified via email of their grant amount.  Students are required to complete an on-line form instructing CSB/SJU on whether they want the grant funds applied to their student account, electronically deposited into their checking or savings account, or sent via check.
