March 16 Message to Administrative and Support Staff
Dear CSB/SJU Administrative and Support Staff,
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support as we navigate in this time of crisis and uncertainty. You have done incredible work for these institutions during this disruption. The institutions remain open and committed to effectively serving our students as we transition to online instruction and while doing our best to keep all community members safe during this time.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, national and local public health experts are advising that employees whose job permits them, should consider working from home and practice social distancing. Therefore, employees who can perform their job remotely may do so, with supervisor approval, from Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 20. We are asking vice presidents to work closely with their reports in supervisory roles throughout this process. This will be our opportunity to learn how remote work succeeds.
Please work with your manager or supervisor to map out how your work will be performed from home and how you will communicate with your manager, supervisor and/or team as we pilot this project. Also, please carefully review the email sent from IT Services earlier today (also here) that provides guidance regarding technology resources to support working from home.
Employees in positions required to provide services directly on campus are asked to report as scheduled. An employee with an underlying health issue in a position which requires on campus service is asked to consult with his/her supervisor and Human Resources.
Employees who choose to continue coming in to work may do so.
We are working on a more comprehensive plan for the coming weeks while classes are held online, and more details on longer-term options will be available as soon as possible. In the interim, we thank you for your flexibility and your work to support our community during this challenging time.
