What extra-curricular activities are you involved in on campus? How has that involvement helped you succeed?
I have been involved in CSB Senate, Chamber Choir, Q+, SJUFaith Retreats, and the Climate Justice Club.
I believe that CSB/SJU has something for everyone! I genuinely love everything that I am able to invest my time in and often find myself saying that I wish I could do more. I feel that the time I have spent involved in these groups has helped my professional and social development in countless ways. I have made life-long friends through involvement in these groups, and have been given phenomenal leadership opportunities that have aided me in developing skills I am sure to use in the future.
What advice would you give to students thinking of majoring/minoring in COMM?
DO IT!! The skills you will learn in your Communication courses are so applicable to whatever career you are hoping to enter. Plus, the Communication faculty is phenomenal-- they are authentic, compassionate, and genuinely care about the well-being and success of their students, regardless if you are in a course of theirs at the time.
What value do you see in being a COMM major at CSB/SJU?
Communication is central to our lives, and the concepts you encounter in your courses allow you to refine skills that many employers look for. A Communication minor/major fits really well with many other minors/majors. Picking up a major or minor can also be an easy way to knock out some common curriculum requirements while engaging in a class you're genuinely interested in!
