Congratulations on your upcoming commencement, what an exciting time of year for you and your families. Please read this information carefully and keep it for reference. You may also reference the information on the commencement website, www.csbsju.edu/commencement.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY: The Commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the Haehn Campus Center Clemens Field House.

ACADEMIC ATTIRE: Traditional academic attire will be worn at commencement (cap, gown, and hood). Academic attire will be issued to all degree candidates at Grad Finale on March 19. GPA Honor cords will be distributed at commencement rehearsal on Monday, May 4th. A $65 commencement fee has been added to your December account to defray the cost of the academic attire and meal tickets.

GRAD FINALE: Thursday, March 19th – Gorecki 204 - 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

I encourage you to attend this important event to check your eligibility for graduation. Pick up your cap and gown! You may also purchase diploma frames, announcements and jewelry from the Sisterhood Collection. You may have your picture taken in a cap and gown and register for prizes.

 In the event you are unable to attend the Grad Finale on March 19th, you may pick up your cap, gown and hood at the CSB Bookstore on Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 9th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY TICKETS: Admission to the ceremony in the field house is by ticket only. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets for her family members and guests to attend the ceremony in the Haehn Campus Center Clemens Field House. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for Commencement seating in the Field House (handicap seating will be available). Additional seating will be available, without tickets in the Escher Auditorium in the Benedicta Arts Center, where we are are pleased to offer closed circuit viewing for your guests.  You may also view the ceremonies on channel 100 in all student housing.

Your packet of commencement ceremony tickets will be available for pick up at the CSB Bookstore Thursday, May 7th through Friday, May 8th – 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 9thth from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Please note: If you are not going to be using each of your commencement tickets, it would be helpful if you let me know, we could pass them along to classmates needing extra tickets. Thank you!

GRADUATION MASS: We invite you and your guests to attend the Graduation Mass as an important part of your special day. It is a time to give thanks for the wonderful years at the College of St. Benedict and for all of us to pray for each of you and bless you on your next ventures.

The mass will be at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel, Bishop Donald Kettler will preside at the Mass.

We encourage all seniors to participate as a Liturgical Minister for your Graduation Mass (Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Gift Bearer, etc.) please contact us at [email protected]  

MEAL TICKETS: each graduate will receive 5 complimentary meal tickets. You will need one of the meal tickets for yourself. The meal will be served in the Gorecki Center from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30. p.m.

When and where to pick up your meal tickets for a particular seating time:

Tuesday, May 5th and Wednesday, May 6th - 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Gorecki Fireside Lobby

Thursday, May 7th and Friday, May 8 - 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the culinary services main office, across from Gorecki Center room 120.

You may purchase additional meal tickets on Saturday, May 9th in the Gorecki Fireside Lobby beginning at 9:30am.

Cost of these tickets is:

Adults - $13.00 plus tax

Child (4-12) - $7.50 plus tax

3 years and under – free  

REHEARSAL: Rehearsal will take place Tuesday, May 5th at (9:00 a.m.) in the Field house.  

Please line up on the lawn between the Haehn Campus Center and the Benedicta Arts Center. Line-up information will be sent by e-mail and posted with numerical and alphabetical markings on the sidewalk. In the event of rain, line-up will be in Claire Lynch. Rehearsal is mandatory for all graduating seniors. If you cannot attend rehearsal or ceremonies, please contact Anastasia Nathe in the Registrar’s Office at [email protected]

PHOTOS: GradImages will be photographing all graduates as they receive their diploma at the Commencement ceremonies. Cap and gown portraits will also be taken at Grad Finale.

Graduates will receive a digital proof of the commencement ceremony photos from GradImages within two weeks following Commencement. Then graduates or family members may order online at Grad Images or call 800-261-2576. Any other questions, please contact GradImages.com customer service at 800-261-2576.

COMMENCEMENT LIVE BROADCAST: For relatives and friends unable to attend commencement, the ceremony will be live streamed.  

To view the live broadcast, go to the CSB/SJU Commencement webpage at http://www.csbsju.edu/commencement.htm and look for a link to the 2020 CSB Commencement webcast. There will be a signal available to check your connection 15 minutes prior to the ceremony.

ARCHIVED VIDEO: The commencement ceremony will be recorded. A free YouTube link of the ceremony will be posted to the commencement website one week after commencement.  

DIPLOMA: On receipt of evidence that all studies undertaken this term have been successfully completed; and that all requirements for the appropriate degree have been successfully met, a diploma will be issued to you. Your diploma will indicate your degree and the date on which it was conferred. An official transcript of academic record attesting to the degree(s) and honors you have received will be mailed to you, along with your diploma, in early July.
