When will graduates receive specific information regarding commencement?
Degree candidates will be sent information from the Office of the Academic Affairs by early February (by email). This includes information for obtaining your cap and gown, ceremony and lunch tickets, etc. The Registrar's office will also be sending information via email. All commencement information will be posted on this website and will be updated as new information becomes available.

Will my parents also receive information?
You can direct your parents and guests to the commencement website for information about commencement day. A mailing from the Office of Academic Affairs will be sent to parents with the commencement website information. All commencement information for parents and graduates is on the website.

Do we need tickets for the Baccalaureate Mass?
No. All guests are welcome to the Baccalaureate Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 12 in the Abbey/University church. The Mass will last approximately 90 minutes.

Do small children need a ticket to the commencement ceremony?
Infants to 2-year-old children do not need a ticket, as long as the child is not occupying a seat.

Where can my guests park on commencement day?
There will be parking available in the various lots on campus; however, they fill up quickly. There is additional parking in the Flynntown area with shuttle service between there and the east side of the Abbey Church. The shuttles will also go through the Science and Palaestra lots en route to the church. The shuttles will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Will a state issued disability hang tag be honored to allow parking on campus and in designated disabled parking areas?
Yes. State issued permits authorizing use of accessible spaces for people with disabilities are honored on campus. Please make sure it is displayed properly. Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.

How early should guests arrive at the church for the commencement ceremony?
The doors to the Abbey/University church will open at 1:00 p.m. for the ceremony. Graduates will begin to assemble at their specified locations at 1:15 p.m. The academic procession of the graduates, faculty and platform party will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.

How long is the commencement ceremony?
Once the academic procession is complete and the ceremony begins, it will last approximately two hours.

Can I arrange for special needs or disabled seating for a family member at the commencement ceremony?
Each graduate attending the ceremony has an opportunity to inform the University of guests who will be attending for whom special services are needed. Please contact Academic Affairs. This information will be of assistance to commencement planners so that adequate disability seating is provided in the church. As a graduate, if you have special needs concerning the academic procession or commencement ceremony, please bring this need to the attention of staff in the Office of Academic Affairs.

Can I be seated with my friends at the commencement ceremony?
Graduates are seated in alphabetical order. Those graduating with academic honors are seated separately. You will be given the seating chart on the rehearsal day, which is May 5.
