Commencement Location Change
The Class of 2020 commencement ceremony is being moved to Clemens Stadium. The stadium bleachers will be used as seating with a stage on the track. The Abbey Church is being held as a backup location in case of inclement weather. Parking will be available in lots: Mary, Flagpole, Palaestra, Athletic Fields, Science 1. Please note that concessions will not be open during this time so consider bringing a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated during the ceremony. Please share this information with your guests.
Check-in will be located at the main entrance to the stadium (across from Mary/Flagpole parking lot) and will take place between 12:30-1:30 p.m. We are requesting that only class of 2020 graduate checks in for their group. Upon arrival, you will receive a packet with tickets for you and your guests, your name card that you will take with you to your seat and drink tickets for the reception at Saint Ben’s.
After you check in, proceed directly into Clemens Stadium. Class of 2020 should sit in sections 103, 104 and 105 (the three middle sections of bleachers). There will not be assigned seating for the Class of 2020 so feel free to sit with your friends and keep your name card with you for the ceremony. Family and friends can sit where they wish within sections 101, 102, 106 or 107 (the side sections of bleachers). Seating for guests is general admission. There will be accessible seating available on the concourse, above the bleachers.
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 12, CSB/SJU requires masks indoors and on transportation for all students, faculty, staff and visitors (vaccinated and unvaccinated) as a temporary action. Masks are not required for vaccinated individuals outdoors. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are expected to wear a mask.
Caps, gowns, and hoods are OPTIONAL for the commencement procession. Your cap, gown and hood were shipped to you last summer, if you purchased them. If you no longer have your cap, gown and hood, or you did not purchase them in 2020, we will have a LIMITED number of caps and tassels available by request at check-in on a first-come, first served basis. Please note that there are a lot of steps at Clemens Stadium. For the 2020 graduates who are participating in the ceremony, keep this in mind when selecting footwear for this event.
GradImages has been contracted to photograph all graduates as they cross the stage at the commencement ceremony. Graduates will receive a digital proof of the commencement ceremony photos from GradImages following commencement. Graduates or family members may order online at GradImages or call 800-261-2576. Any other questions, please contact GradImages Customer Service at (800) 261-2576 or [email protected].
