Josh Dirlam

Josh Dirlam '03 is president and CEO of New Wave Industries (NWI), a versatile technology corporation with unpretentious roots and global reach.

Dirlam founded NWI in 2005 with the first of three distinct business segments, New Wave Components; an entity that buys and sells semiconductors. NWI has since expanded from a two-man shop to a thriving enterprise with more than 20 employees and two additional ventures:

  • New Wave Design Verification creates customized and off-the-shelf IP and electronic systems for the defense, aerospace, finance, telecommunications, and big data industries; and
  • New Wave Drones, selling Sentek Systems' multispectral camera payload (a drone camera payload designer and manufacturer designed for applications in precision agriculture and oil and gas).

Under Dirlam's direction, St. Louis Park-based NWI has become an industry leader in solutions and IP for both hardware and software. NWI is commitment to giving back, pledging 10% of profits to charities.

Dirlam was born and raised in Eden Prairie and graduated from St. John's in 2003 with a degree in communication and management. He played center for the Johnnie football team and still counts his teammates among his closest friends. Dirlam is a past president of Eden Prairie Rotary and spends his spare time traveling. He previously lived in Shanghai and currently lives in Minneapolis with his wife Rachel.
