Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Serie is from Little Falls, Minnesota and served six years in the Minnesota Army National Guard. He commissioned as an Infantry Officer following graduation from St. Cloud State University in May of 2001. Upon completion of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, he was assigned as a Rifle Platoon Leader in 2^nd Battalion, 187^th Infantry Regiment, 101^st Airborne Division and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He subsequently served as a Rifle Company Executive Officer and HHC Executive Officer.

After completion of the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, LTC Serie served as a Platoon Training Team OIC in the 6^th Ranger Training Battalion. He then served as the C Company Commander and HHC Commander in 2^nd Battalion, 22^nd Infantry Regiment, 10^th Mountain Division and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-08. LTC Serie next served as the Assistant Brigade Operations Officer in the 191^st Training Support Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord and deployed to Afghanistan with a Joint Special Operations Task Force. Following Afghanistan, LTC Serie deployed as a Senior Brigade Advisor to a Saudi Arabian Light Infantry Brigade in the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Upon completion of Command and General Staff College and earning his Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University, LTC Serie deployed to Kuwait as the Brigade Plans Officer for the 1^st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 4^th Infantry Division. Upon redeployment, he served as the Battalion Executive Officer for 2^nd Battalion, 23^rd Infantry Regiment as the battalion stood up at Ft. Carson, CO and the Brigade transitioned to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team. LTC Serie also served as the Brigade Executive Officer for the 1^st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4^th Infantry Division.

LTC Serie’s next assignment was serving as a Military Personnel Exchange Program Officer. After completing Dutch Language Training, he was assigned to the 11^th Luchtmobiele Brigade, Netherlands. After departing the Netherlands, LTC Serie was assigned as the Training Officer for the 25^th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. LTC Serie commanded the 1^st Battalion, 196^th Infantry Brigade from May 2019 to May 2021 in Hawaii. He currently serves as the Professor of Military Science for Saint John’s University, College of Saint Benedict, and Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with Valor device and oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Unit commendation (with oak leaf cluster), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (with star),  Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (with star), Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Dutch Jump Wings, and Ranger Tab. He has also been awarded the prestigious Order of Saint Maurice.

LTC Serie is the proud father of two boys, Hunter (age 16) and Beau (age 15). LTC Serie currently resides in his hometown of Little Falls, Minnesota. During his time away from instructing, LTC Serie enjoys spending time with his sons, fishing, hunting, ATVing, and enjoying all the adventures Minnesota has to offer. He is extremely enthusiastic to bring over 20 years of military and cultural experiences back to his home state and the Fighting Saints Battalion!
