Fall 2011 Alumnae/i Notes

This may be the long way around to a birth announcement. This from Michael Roder '00: "Much has changed for us in the last couple of years. We enjoyed a couple of years in MN when a friend working my assignments found me a job in Mpls commanding a recruiting company." He made it up to SJU for his ten-year reunion. "I accepted a branch transfer to the Acquisition Corps last spring and after some training in Huntsville, AL, we relocated to the DC area. I'm currently working IT and communication system programs for the Army." He misses the flying and the camaraderie but the decision has been rewarding and challenging. He also started grad school at The George Washington Univ. working towards a MS in Systems Engineering. "However, our best news is that Talia and I welcomed our third child on 13 Sep, a girl Alice Michelle, named after my grandmother and sister." 11983 San Ysidro Ct, Woodbridge, VA [email protected]

"For 32 years, I've been committed to military service. Only my Mickey-my high school sweetheart-has received a longer commitment," said Kevin S. Gerdes '84 of Mahtomedi, MN., after being promoted to Brigadier General Nov. 19 during a ceremony at Camp Ripley. Congratulations! Gerdes, who is currently assigned as the deputy commander of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, headquartered out of Rosemount, MN, was pinned with his star by his wife Mickey Gerdes and sons 2 Lt. Tyson Gerdes '11 and Patrick Gerdes.
