Library Exhibit: "Your Professors' Favorite Books"

One of our history professors recently asked our faculty about their favorite books as a way to celebrate reading and books. We have copies of the books, with the faculty comments, in the libraries on both campuses. Check out the books that our professors have been reading lately...or the ones they keep re-reading over the years.

Intro from the Exhibit

Books and reading are essential for the liberal arts mission generally and for the intellectual life of individuals. In this exhibit, faculty members from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University share their favorite books and the reasons behind their selections. In some cases, the books have presented life-defining questions, in other cases they have impressed the readers with the beauty of their language and ideas, and in still other cases the books are important as physical objects that have accompanied the readers over the years. The books are accompanied by personal testimonials, and several are offered explicitly as reading suggestions for students.

We hope that the entire CSB/SJU community will enjoy the exhibit, but it is intended especially for the students. The participants desire to share and demonstrate their love of books, reading, and intellectual development beyond the confines of the classroom.
