Scholarships for Transfer Students



Criteria used to award


Academic Achievement Scholarships

$12,000-$31,000 per year ($48,000-$124,000 over four years)

Awarded based on academic achievement, test scores* and contributions made to a student’s school and community. Nearly all incoming students are considered for  one of these scholarships upon being accepted for admission.

*CSB/SJU have adopted an ACT/SAT test optional policy beginning with the Fall 2021 term.

Benedictine Scholarship


For low-income students who have completed a college access program (Upward Bound, Admission Possible, etc.), or for students from urban high school without college access programs where the predominant enrollment is students from low-income families.

To apply, simply fill out the application for admission; no essay required or other separate application.

Art, Music and Theater Scholarships (renewable)


Demonstrated excellence in Art, Music or Theater.

Alum Referral Scholarship

$1,000 per year

Transfer students who are referred to CSB/SJU by an alum are eligible for an additional $1,000 per year scholarship. Students must be referred by January 15 for enrollment in the fall semester or June 15 for enrollment in the spring semester, the $1,000 per year up to four years will be honored in their transfer package.

Army ROTC & ROTC Nursing Tuition, Fees and Books Scholarships (Renewable;
100% of Tuition and Fees)

Completely covers the cost of tuition and fees. Costs

$1,200/year book allowance

Room and board costs are usually covered by CSB/SJU scholarship

$420 monthly stipend up to 10 months of the year (varies with year in college)

Demonstrated leadership potential. GPA, class standing, and ACT/SAT scores considered. High achievement with broad interests and willingness to take on challenges.

Army ROTC Scholarship application

Legacy Scholarship

$1,000 per year

Offered to students with a parent or grandparent who has graduated from CSB/SJU,  or with a sibling who is a current or former CSB/SJU student.

No separate application is needed to receive the Legacy Scholarship, but students must indicate their legacy connection on their application for admission.

Out-of-State Scholarships


Students attending high schools outside of Minnesota. See criteria

Acknowledges additional expense of traveling out-of-state to college and loss of in-state grant assistance.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships


Member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Leadership and service.
Typical college GPA 3.30-3.50, ACT 21-25

Recommendation from Phi Theta Kappa adviser. Available only to transfer students.

The Yellow Ribbon Program (renewable)
