Ben Trnka

Ben Trnka, CPA, is an adjunct professor of accounting and finance.  Ben is a 2011 graduate of CSB/SJU where he majored in accounting.  While at St. John’s, Ben was on the varsity swim team and studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria.  He completed his Master of Accountancy from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management in 2015.

Ben’s accounting and finance background includes serving as an auditor in the Minneapolis office of KPMG.  He worked in the area of audit and his clients included a wide variety of companies, ranging from a private frozen foods manufacturer to publicly traded multinational corporations.  Ben specialized in manufacturing and transportation.

After public accounting, Ben joined the Internal Audit team at Prime Therapeutics in Bloomington, Minnesota. As a senior internal auditor, he led projects on COSO 2013 implementation and the annual SSAE 16 report. Additionally, he aided in the development of internal controls at new facilities. Ben left Prime Therapeutics in 2014 to return to his alma mater as a faculty member.

Since joining the faculty at CSB/SJU, Ben has taught Principles I & II, Cost Accounting, Business Communications, Corporate Financial Analysis and Auditing.

Ben lives in Sartell with his wife, Kerry, and enjoys competing in triathlons and traveling.  He loves teaching at CSB/SJU and is thoroughly convinced he has the greatest job in the world.
