Kelly Prestby

Kelly is an Assistant Professor in the Accounting and Finance Department. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and later earned her Master of Accountancy degree from Auburn University, Auburn, AL.

Kelly likes to bring her work experience into the classroom. She began her career as an Internal Auditor for Norwest Audit Services, auditing the Corporate, Capital Markets, and Trust Departments of Norwest Banks. From there, she ventured into her computer programming side (she was a Computer Science and Mathematics minor at Concordia), joining Great Plains Software as a Programmer Developer. At the time, she worked on the development team for a small business accounting software package that Microsoft was venturing into. After Great Plains, she worked as an Accounting Manager for a beverage manufacturer and wholesaler. All of that experience led her to starting her own business doing accounting and consulting for small businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

While running her own business, Kelly began teaching, landing an adjunct position at her alma mater. That was when she finally discovered what she really "wanted to be when she grew up". She has taught at Concordia College and St. Cloud State University, and is happy to have returned to a private liberal arts campus teaching here at St. Bens/St. John's.

Kelly has her CPA license (inactive) and teaches Accounting Information Systems along with Principles, Intermediate, and Advanced Accounting courses.
