I am happy to announce that Dorothy Day’s granddaughter, Kate Hennessy, will be delivering a lecture, “The World Will Be Saved by Beauty” on April 17, 2018 in Gorecki 204. This lecture is co-sponsored by the Central Minnesota Catholic Worker, the Theology Department, and the College of Saint Benedict Koch Chair in Catholic Thought and Culture.

I also wish to invite you to join a book discussion luncheon with Ms. Hennessy on April 17 from 12-1p.m. to discuss her new book, Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty: An Intimate Portrait of My Grandmother.

 The New York Times describes Hennessy’s book as “an intimate, revealing and sometimes wrenching family memoir of the journalist and social advocate who is now being considered for canonization.”

Brief Author Biography

Kate Hennessy is a writer and the youngest of Dorothy Day’s nine grandchildren. Her work has been included in Best American Travel Writing. She is the author of Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved By Beauty and, in collaboration with the photographer Vivian Cherry, Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker: The Miracle of our Continuance. Kate divides her time between Ireland and Vermont.
