This series of public talks and lectures at Saint John's University invites authors, scholars, and cultural figures to speak about ethicical issues present in both their creative work and in current events. As an informal reception space, The Saint John's Pottery co-hosts many events in this spirit around the tea table.

History professor Nick Hayes holds the Chair of Critical Thinking at Saint John's University. Some recent visiting scholars include Dan Barry (2019), Aine Greaney (2019), Eamonn Wall (2017), Adam Zagajewski (2017), James Fallows (2013), Dan Barry (2012), Patrick Hicks (2011), Peter Quinn (2010), Marv Davidov and Carol Masters (2009), and Bill Holm (2008).
