CPR/First Aid/AED Classes

These classes are for CSB/SJU students.  If CSB/SJU employees are interested, contact Erin Ross [email protected]. If the class doesn't fill with students, employees can be added to a class.  

Non-CSB/SJU students or employees, please contact the local Red Cross or American Heart Association Chapters for course offerings.  Websites are available below.

Many non-healthcare employers accept either certification level (Heartsaver or BLS).  Check with employer on their requirements before registering to verify which certification you need.
 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

At this time, only the blended learning option is available for CPR/FA/AED.

American Heart Association Heartsaver certification - in class - for those who have never been certified before, or for those whose certifications have expired.  You will learn CPR, First Aid and how to use an AED in this course for adults, children and infants.  This is a 5-hour course.  Cost $45/person.  2 year certification.

AHA Basic Life Support Provider - in class - designed to teach healthcare professionals how to perform high-quality CPR/AED individually or as part of a team for adults, children and infants.  You will learn bag-mask techniques, rescue breathing and choking for adults, children and infants as well.  Whether going into the healthcare profession or not, you can take this class.  This is a 5-hour course.  Cost $45/person.  2-year certification.

AHA online blended learning options - AHA offers a blended learning option for both Hertsaver and Basic Life Support for first time certification as well as recertification.  Go to www.heart.org to find the class you need and complete the classroom portion online.  CSB has instructors that can do your skills test for either the Heartsaver or Basic Life Support certifications.  Contact Marcia Mahlum for details.  Cost:  Student would pay directly for the online portion.  Test out:  $12/person paid at time of test out.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Re-certification Course - for those who have a current or are in a grace period with their Red Cross Lifeguard certification. You will also receive Lifeguard/CPR/First aid/AED re-certification good for 2 years from the American Red Cross. This is a 12-hour course. Cost is $85/person. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course - for those who are new to lifeguarding and need to complete the entire certification course, or for those who have let their certification lapse and need to retake the entire class.  You will also receive Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED certification with your lifeguard certification good for 2 years from the American Red Cross.  This is a 25-hour course.  Cost is $125/person. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER IN ORDER TO TAKE A CLASS IF IT'S NOT THE BLENDED LEARNING OPTION.

Payment with exact cash or check, payable to CSB.  Payment is due at minimum 3 days before start of class to hold your spot. 
Drop off at the CSB Campus Recreation Desk.
