The 31st annual Minnesota Education Job Fair sponsored by the Minnesota Education Job Fair Association will be held at the MINNEAPOLIS CONVENTION CENTER on Friday, April 21, 2017. Representatives from Minnesota, national and international organizations will attend. The representatives at the Fair will provide candidates with information about job opportunities within their districts/organization. Many of the representatives will establish interview schedules and conduct actual employment interviews on the day of the Job Fair. Representatives will seek to hire in areas of elementary, secondary, special education, school counseling, administration, as well as school social workers.
Colleges/Universities from thirty-one teacher producing institutions in Minnesota will have candidates participating in this event. Transportation and accommodations to attend the fair are on your own. To be eligible for the Education Job Fair, you must be a student or graduate from a Minnesota college or university and register through your college career office. You must also must be certified by December 2017.
CSB/SJU candidates should complete the following requirements and submit materials to register for the Fair to CSB Career Services by April 3, 2017.
- Complete, print, and submit the Registration Form
- $20 payable to Saint John's University (SJU)
- Current up-to-date resume for office use (will not be submitted to employers), however, RESUME SHOULD BE IN FINAL FORM (NOT A DRAFT) ON RESUME PAPER. It is recommended that you have your resume critiqued by a career counselor prior to the registration deadline and/or submitting to employers.
Submitting your registration form, check, and resumes to Career Services CSB Office by April 3, 2017, will reserve your spot at the Career Fair. If you are registered and decide not to attend the Career Fair, reimbursement of the fee will be available up to one week prior to the fair (April 14th). After the April 3rd registration deadline, Career Services will send updates and details regarding the fair to the email address provided on your registration form.
All employer participation updates will be available through the http://www.mnedfair.org website. Upon deciding to attend the Fair, you are encouraged to use this website to gain contact/address information to write letters to the districts of interest to obtain application materials and request an interview for the day of the fair, Friday, April 21.
Candidates looking out of state have the most to gain: although you will see Minnesota school districts represented, some of them will participate only to provide information and not to interview. The out-of-state schools will be much more likely to both inform and interview. Many of the school districts may not know all their needs for the coming year by April 21, but will be available at the Fair to provide information and collect resumes for their district. This is a wonderful networking and interviewing opportunity!
