4 Key Reasons Resumes get Overlooked
resume humor

"A full 98% of the public prepares their resumes incorrectly. That is primarily because they do not:
1. Target their resumes
2. Incorporate all of the relative keywords
3. Highlight their achievements efficiently

4. Invite the reader in to want to read"

Connect with Alums over Winter Break
Winter break is a great time to connect with alums. Whether you'd like to learn what alums have done with a certain major or talk to an alum at a company you're interested in, the CANE database allows you to do just that. You can find alums by major, career title, place of employment, graduate school, volunteer organization, and geographic location.

Stop in to either Career Resource Center (Academic Services Building - CSB; Mary Hall - SJU) to begin making a list of alums to contact. Set up a time to talk over the phone or meet at a coffee shop to network! Career Resource Center Walk-in Hours: Mon - Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

"It is never too early to send out a resume. I would also say that once you have put your resume out there, begin to network. The more avenues you have or are given access to during college, the easier it is to truly find out what you are meant to do after graduation. It is never a bad idea to shake someone's hand, even if you don't have a passion for what that recruiter has to offer. "

"Research is one, if not the most important experience I had while at CSB/SJU that prepared me for my career...Research is so important to how we progress clinically. I may not know all of the answers to my patients' questions, but because of my background in research, I will know how to find the answer."
