New SJU Board of Trustees members named

Saint John's University recently named Jim Jarocki, James Lande, Cary Musech and the Rev. Anthony Ruff, OSB, to its Board of Trustees. SJU trustees are eligible to serve three consecutive three-year terms.

Luke Newgaard was named the new student trustee, and will serve a one-year term.

All five began their terms on July 1. The board consists of 35 members.

	Jarocki, a 1980 graduate of Saint John's with a degree in accounting, also earned a master's of business administration degree from Harvard Business School. In 1992, he founded Stolat Partners, an investment management firm based in Duluth, Minnesota, which invests in distressed assets, mortgage-backed securities, real estate and a variety of financial derivatives. Jarocki is also chairman of the National Bank of Commerce, the largest community bank in the Duluth-Superior, Wisconsin, market.
	Lande has been a partner of Genoa Partners since 2013. Genoa Partners provides board and management consulting and advisory services to closely held business enterprises and ownership groups. From 1984-2013, he was chief executive officer of Quadion Corporation, a contract manufacturer of products in the medical, automotive and industrial sectors, with operations in North America, Asia and Europe. Lande is a graduate of the University of Iowa and Harvard Law School.
	Musech, a 1980 graduate of Saint John's with a degree in accounting, also attended the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He is the founder and managing principal of Tonka Bay Equity Partners, a private equity firm. Since 1998, Tonka Bay has raised over $350 million of capital and has invested in more than 30 platform companies. Prior to founding Tonka Bay, he was a member of the senior administration team of a private-equity backed manufacturing company.
	Ruff is a monk of Saint John's Abbey, and is an associate professor of theology at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University and at Saint John's School of Theology•Seminary. He is the founding director of the National Catholic Youth Choir, and chaired the international committee that wrote the English chant for the 2011 Roman Missal. He received a bachelor's degree from SJU in 1986, a master's of divinity degree from Saint John's School of Theology in 1993, an STM from Yale Divinity School and a Th.D. from the University of Graz, Austria.
	Newgaard is a senior political science and Hispanic studies double major from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He has worked for the Saint John's Health Initiative for three years, and served as a student representative on the trustees' Investment Committee. Newgaard also serves as a senator on the Saint John's Student Senate.
