2003 - 2004 Women's Lives Series

Women & Money: How to get it, how to give it and how to live responsibly with it.

Because Life isn’t a game.

This year’s Women’s Lives Series theme, “Women & Money,” focuses on what women need to know regarding the money they earn, save, spend, invest and donate. This year’s events will help women learn how to be more financially aware.

“Big Money”

A fun-filled, information-packed multimedia presentation designed to cover the basics of a student’s financial life.

October 14, 2003

“Sex, Money and Power”
7:30pm HCC Alumnae Hall

Join Erica Whittlinger, Financial analyst and MPR commentator, for a look at how men's and women's attitudes about money differ, and how this affects the decisions they make about saving, spending and investments.

November 3, 2003

“Living with Money” 
7:30pm HCC, Alumnae Hall                       

A look at how various women handle money. Panelists include Mara Faulkner, OSB, and Susan Lester, Chair, CSB Board of Trustees.

February 17, 2004    

“Women, Money and Development” 
7:30pm HCC, Alumnae Hall

Sharmistha Self, Assistant Professor of Economics at CSB/SJU, will explore the intersections between cultural ideas and gender roles as they relate to the economic status of women in both developing and developed countries. 

March 23, 2004 

“Poor and Exploited is Not a Feminist Goal: Women and Money”
7:30pm HCC, Alumnae Hall

Amy Richards and Jennifer Baumgardner will address the relationship of feminism, money and women’s careers.
