This page contains information for department web site coordinators to ensure their pages are in agreement with the CSB/SJU Web Policy.
Use Descriptive Page Titles - For example, if the site is called "IT Services Training Center" the Page Title should be labeled the same.
To Change the Page Title
- From the Edit
- In the Title/headline box, type in the appropriate title
- Choose Save
Spell Check and Proofread the site. It is also recommended that you have someone else proofread your page. After consistently working on a web site, obvious proofreading mistakes can be missed.
Misspelled words will be identified with a red marker. Click the red marker to launch an editing pop-up.
The alt attribute specifies alternate text that is shown when the image cannot be displayed.
To Add Alt Tags
- Click on an image,
- Choose Edit Image
- Click the General tab
- In the Alt Text - type in description i.e. (BAC Fine Arts MAC Lab).
- Choose Save Changes
While alternate text may be very helpful, it must be handled with care. Authors should observe the following guidelines:
- Do not specify irrelevant alternate text when including images intended to format a page, for instance, alt="red ball" would be inappropriate for an image that adds a red ball for decorating a heading or paragraph. In such cases, the alternate text should be the empty string ("").
- Do not specify meaningless alternate text (e.g., "dummy text"). Not only will this frustrate users, it will slow down user agents that must convert text to speech or braille output.
