The Men's Spirituality Groups are an important expression of the St. John's University residence life program. Composed of 8-10 students, with at least one adult participant (usually a resident monk), Spirituality Groups explore values and share experiences. The members meet every few weeks to answer questions and explore topics related to their individual lives. Most Spirituality Groups last from first-year to senior year. To date, 14 groups involving 20 adults and over 100 students have been meeting for four years. Students are unanimous in their praise for the experience because it "gives us the chance to talk about the most important stuff" and "it provides the experience to hear the life-story of a man from a different generation." These groups were recently nationally recognized by the Outstanding Men's Program Award from the American College Personnel Association.
