The Project for Under-Told Stories (UTS) is a collaborative project involving international journalism and teaching. It engages students from Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict in courses, internships and mentoring opportunities providing a forum for the critical reflection on the world's under-reported news stories, and hands-on skills in media production. A DVD archive of stories from around the world is available for faculty and students. UTS hosts special events, film premieres and guest speakers of national and international reputation.

In addition to providing educational resources, UTS will continue to produce programs for radio and television. Fred de Sam Lazaro, UTS director, is a correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and contributes to PBS' Religion and Ethics Newsweekly, Wide Angle and NPR.
