Goal 1: Students will be able to think critically and creatively about the Christian theological tradition.
Objective 1.1: Students will be able to articulate a basic knowledge of the Christian tradition.Objective 1.2: Students will be able to read scripture and other theological texts in their historical and/or cultural contexts.
Objective 1.3: Students will be able to identify the development of theological ideas over time.
Objective 1.4: Students will be able to engage and critique a theological argument through clear writing and documentation.
Goal 2: Students will be able to apply their theological knowledge in service to the Church and society
Objective 2.1: Students will be able to analyze contemporary issues facing Church and society today;
Objective 2.2: Students will be able to advocate for the common good.
Goal 3: Majors with a concentration in pastoral ministry will be prepared for service within the Church.
Objective 3.1: Students will be able to articulate and integrate a theology of ministry into their pastoral ministry;
Objective 3.2: Students will be able to engage in pastoral activity that promotes evangelization, faith formation, worship, community, and pastoral care with sensitivity to diverse situations;
Objective 3.3: Students will be able to provide effective leadership, administration, and service in the spirit of collaboration;
Objective 3.4: Students will be leaders in advocating for further theological education both for themselves and others in pastoral ministry.
Goal 4: Majors with a concentration in secondary education will be prepared for high school teaching.
Objective 4.1: Students will be able to integrate knowledge of the Christian tradition and theology into their pedagogy;
Objective 4.2: Students will be able to engage their students in thinking, writing, and speaking about theology.
