Advantages of a CSB/SJU Theology Degree

Our bachelor degree in theology has several advantages over programs at other liberal arts institutions.   

Undergraduates can study theology here in the midst of two praying, liturgically active Benedictine monasteries. 

The number of theologians teaching in the classroom and the breadth of their specialties are far greater than most other liberal arts programs.  

The Clemens Library at the College of Saint Benedict and the Alcuin Library at Saint John’s University provide a theological collection which is unparalleled in the Upper mid-West and among the best in the nation.

Saint John’s University is home to the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library, the Arca Artium Collection of Rare Books, and the Saint John’s Bible. 

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University have been the recipients of major grants from the Lilly Endowment which have enabled new programs in theological studies.

Qualified undergraduates have the option of taking at least one graduate level course from the Saint John's School of Theology∙Seminary. 

Students from Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict may begin graduate course work in theology while finishing their undergraduate studies.

The Diekmann Center and Dignitas Humana Initiative at Saint John’s have brought major speakers to campus and furnished workshops in the area of liturgy and social justice.
