What made you decide to major in theater?

I decided to become a theater major about halfway through the first semester of my first year. I was in a play first semester and realized how much I absolutely love theater, and I know I want to be able to do what I love for the rest of my life.

What area of theater do you focus on?

I have decided to focus on acting. Acting gives me a feeling I can't get anywhere else, and I love the art of transformation that happens on stage.

What do you like best about the theater program at CSB/SJU? 

I know when I graduate from CSB/SJU with a major in theater, I will be prepared for my future, because of the well rounded education a theater student receives. We are required to take acting classes, technical classes, costuming, etc. and that gives us such a strong foundation for when I go out into the real world. 

What is the biggest struggle you've encountered in the program? 

As a scenic charge artist for "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" in spring 2007, Krejci paints a set piece.

I really have not encountered any big struggles in the department. We work long hours, but I am working with my friends, and it is what I love to do, so I do not see it as a problem at all.

What kind of relationship do you have with your professors?

The professors in the theater department are there to help the students get a well-rounded education. I have never felt as though I could not go to a professor for help. They are willing to help you outside of class which is so helpful if you do not fully understand what is happening in class.

How is the interaction between students in your program?

It will be very difficult to find the type of relationships between students in the theater department anywhere else. You are working with your friends so your relationship is at times very professional, but once the work is done, you can go hang out with everyone and relax. 

Krejci performed in "Star Wars Episode Infinity: Dysfunctional Family in Space," a devised play based on the Star Wars saga, in fall 2006.

What advice do you have for students that are just entering your program?

Do not be intimidated at all when you first come to auditions or start working in the tech shop. Everyone in the department is willing to help you out and teach you in any way.  And everyone is there to work hard, learn, and have a great time.

What are your plans after graduating from CSB/SJU?

I would like to audition for acting roles and eventually go to graduate school for acting.
