I am Willene Mangham, Associate Professor of Theater and Costume Director. After earning my Bachelors degree in Technical Theater from Middle Tennessee State University and my Master of Fine Arts degree in Costume Design from the University of Mississippi, I migrated to the frozen Northland and have never left.
I have been at CSB/SJU since the fall of 1984. I count my years here in terms of how many winters I have survived. As a native of Florida, to survive into my 13th winter is somewhat of an accomplishment. During my time here I have designed over fifty shows. Some of my favorite include King Lear, Edward Bond's Lear, Macbeath, West Side Story, Hair, The Skin of Our Teeth, The Witlings, Crimes of the Heart, Tartuffe and A Flea in Her Ear. I have also worked with Minnesota Repretory Theater, Southern Arena Theater, Quite Light Opera, and Jenny Wiley Summer Music Theater.
I teach the following classes:
In addition, I design or supervise student designs for all the Gorecki Theater (Forum) productions and the Studio productions of the Theater Department. I also manage the Costume Shop, keeping a crew of about 12 work study employees and various lab students busy.
