Two Student Directed Plays: Time and Place TBA

Art, Music, and Theater Scholarship Information

Our program . . .

CSB/SJU have one of the finest undergraduate theater programs in the Upper Midwest.  The theater department brings together a dedicated faculty with strong ties to professional theater companies, a course of study that emphasizes the interrelated nature of all facets of dramatic production and an annual program of both faculty-directed and student-directed plays.

In classes as well as productions, theater students at CSB/SJU learn by doing.  Resident and visiting faculty members continually bring new ideas, techniques and challenges to students.

Program highlights

  • The theater faculty includes specialists in all major areas of theater, and all directors of productions are full-time faculty members.
  • Collaboration with the CSB/SJU Fine Arts Programming exposes our students to theater professionals and great productions from all over the country.
  • The department stages four major productions each year.

Overview of Program

The theater major includes:

  • Classes in acting, theater history, dramatic literature, costuming and technical theater.
  • The opportunity to specialize in one of the areas that most interests you.
  • Four, full-length productions every year.
