AUTHORIZATION CODE

Authorization codes (7 digits) are required for long distance calls. Authorization codes are sent to on-campus students through email during August. Please call our office at ext. 3482 if you need to this code or if you need to verify your code.

Returning students will be assigned the same code as last year. If you are a new student you will receive a number which will remain yours throughout your college career at Saint John's. The use of this code assures that you will be charged only for the calls you make. For your protection, you should memorize your code and keep any papers referring to it in a safe place. You are responsible for the security of the code. You are also responsible for ALL charges made to your authorization code. If you have any questions, please call 3482.

In case of loss or theft, it is your responsibility to notify the Voice Communications Office at 3482. You will be held responsible for all charges generated by the use of your authorization code after its loss or theft up to the point of notification of the Voice Communications Office. Saint John's University treats misuse of authorization codes as a serious offense.

UNSOLICITED CALLS

If you receive unsolicited calls, do not provide personal information, such as telephone number, social security number, credit card number, pin, or passwords.  It is not necessary to give out this type of information.

The caller may be someone who claims to be connected with your credit card issuer and ask to “verify” your account number to make sure you’re protected.  They then use this information for fraudulent purposes. Your real credit card issuer doesn’t need your account number, it already has it. If you have to provide the number, look up their number and call them back.

If you happen to give out personal information, call SJU Life Safety at 2144 immediately and report the incident.
