Meet Our Graduates

Beth Schiller

"I'm currently in my 3rd year of physical therapy school at the University of Minnesota, approaching graduation in less than 2 months! Over the course of graduate school I have realized that physical therapy is the ideal occupation for me. In fact, I feel very lucky to have found something that I enjoy so much. The sports medicine faculty and the courses that were offerred at CSB were the main reason I chose this field."       Read More

Program News

  • Ashley Davenport, a CSB senior pursuing a Biology Major with a Sports Medicine Minor, was inducted into the Omega Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES).  DES is considered CSB's highest honor for a student, requiring a GPA of a 3.9 or higher, as well as involvement in the community.
  • Currently, 170 CSB/SJU students are pursuing the minor in sports medicine.
  • According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the employment of fitness workers is expected to grow "much faster than average" through 2014.

Our program . . .

The CSB/SJU minor in Sports Medicine examines sport performance and injury from multiple disciplinary perspectives including:

  • Kinesiology
  • Exercise physiology
  • Motor learning and control
  • Athletic training

Coursework is designed to prepare students for careers in the exercise and fitness field.  More specifically, students will develop knowledge and skills in the areas of physiological assessment, exercise program design, and exercise technique instruction.

These courses will incorporate classroom learning and hands-on practical learning.  Students will be challenged to integrate knowledge and apply that knowledge in "real world" situations.
