Faculty

Saint John's distinguished theology faculty form a community of scholars marked by its collegiality and mutual respect. The faculty consider their work as a vocation to serve the church, the students, and the wider academic community through teaching, presentations to various groups, and publications. Trained in a wide variety of institutions, the faculty includes Benedictine monks, diocesan clergy, lay women and men, and women religious. In the midst of this diversity, common threads include a strong commitment to inquiry, valuation of our historical tradition, and dedication to creatively addressing current pastoral and academic questions. Lively conversation is the norm in classrooms, hallways, and at meals. A recurring topic is the integration of academic theology and its pastoral applications.

He has been in professional youth ministry since 1973, serving in diocesan, parish, school, and community programs. Bob offers workshops and training programs in youth ministry skills and issues internationally. He has authored Training Adults for Youth Ministry, Meeting The Challenge: Resources for Catholic Youth Evangelization, Survival in Youth Ministry, and Teen to Teen: Responding to Peers in Crisis through Saint Mary's Press and Tips for Raising Teens: A Primer for Parents through Paulist Press. Bob is also a volunteer in his parish youth ministry and catechetical program at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Fulton, MD. Bob has an MA in Religious Education from LaSalle University and a D.Min. from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana. His hobbies include rock climbing, caving, and cycling.
