Ministers in Transition
"Transitioning into Ministry" is a retreat that will provide an opportunity for those who have transitioned from the role of student in theological education to pastoral leadership in the last five years to theologically reflect on their practice of ministry, ability to sustain healthy ministry habits, and foster a renewed sense of the minister's vocational call. The retreatants gather daily with an SOT·Sem faculty member for theological reflection on the practice of ministry. Retreats are open to eight participants and begin Sunday afternoon with Vespers in the Abbey church and conclude after lunch on Friday. The next retreat will be facilitated by Barbara Sutton in the summer of 2010.
"Transitions Through Ministry" is a retreat for those who long ago moved from the safety of that first homily or facilitation of their first church meeting to a more seasoned ministerial life—perhaps a new ministry position or even retirement. Retreatants will gather daily to theologically reflect on confronting grief and loss in ministry, experiencing renewed vitality, surrendering to this season of ministerial life as well feasting on the beauty of nature. Retreats are open to eight participants and begin Sunday afternoon with Vespers in the Abbey church and conclude after lunch on Friday. The next retreat will be facilitated by Barbara Sutton in January of 2010.
