Chris Ángel, Accompanist
Chris Ángel, a native of San Luis Obispo, California, has served as a church musician for over twenty years. He holds degrees in mathematical and computational science, music performance, and theology from Stanford University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Saint John's School of Theology·Seminary. A published composer, Chris is completing a Th.M. degree at Saint John's School of Theology·Seminary. This is Chris's fourth year as accompanist for NCYC.
Paul Johnson, Head Camp Leader
Paul is a native of central Minnesota, where growing up he was a member of the Saint John's Boys Choir and the Youth Chorale of Central Minnesota. He is a 2011 graduate of Saint John's University with a degree in Psychology. While at CSBSJU he was a resident assistant, participated in the Men's Chorus under the direction of Axel Theimer, and partook in the Opera Workshop performances for three years. This past year Paul taught at St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, NJ through the Benedictine Volunteer Corps, where along with teaching he had the pleasure of working with the choral program. His interests include singing, sports, video games, reading, watching movies and meeting new people. This is his third year with NCYC.
Heidi Schleif, Camp Leader
Heidi is from Eden Prairie, Minnesota and is a 2012 graduate of the College of Saint Benedict with a major in Liturgical Music and a minor in Hispanic Studies. This is her third summer as a camp leader and cantor coach for the National Catholic Youth Choir. Her interests include singing, reading, music ministry, traveling, spending time with friends, watching movies, and speaking Spanish.
Audrey Seah, Camp Leader
Audrey is a native of Singapore, holds a bachelors degree in music composition from Fresno State and is currently a student in the Master of Theology (Liturgy) program at Saint John's School of Theology·Seminary. Her hobbies include watching Lost, and reading and collecting all things Toy Story. This is her second year with NCYC.
Kayla Becker, Camp Leader
Kayla Is originally from a small town in Nebraska. She is a senior who is Majoring in Peace Studies with a Psychology minor. She hopes to work for a campus ministry program planning missions and service trips for the youth. She is also a National Catholic Youth Choir alum who couldn't get enough, so she is back as a staff member! She was in NCYC in the summers of 2006, 2007, & 2008. In her free time she loves photography, traveling, reading and listening to music.
Chris Calderone, Camp Leader
Chris Calderone grew up in New York, and earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. Upon graduating, he volunteered and worked as a parish music director and school music teacher in Camden, NJ for two years. Last August, he enrolled at Saint John's School of Theology Seminary to pursue a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music degree. Between studies, Chris is also active in the aviation industry as a commercial pilot and flight instructor. Other interests include random musical instruments, photography, cooking and eating Italian food, travel, service and ministry, volunteer work, and enjoying the company of great friends.
